Search Engine Optimization

Search engines match the words or phrases used in a
search request with those used in Website text. You want
to make sure that your Website is optimized to come up
high on the returned search list when potential customers
are looking for products or services that your company
offers. That means that copy on your Website must be rich
in keywords or keyword phrases.

Keywords

So what is a keyword? Keywords are those words (or
phrases) that most people use to search the Web for a
particular product or service, or information. For
example, if you want to find a place that fixes cars, you
might do a search on 'auto repairs'.

Better Keywords

When you choose keywords for your Web content, don't use
words that are too broad. For example, if you sell floor
cleaners for hardwood, you might be tempted to
use 'floors' as a keyword in your copy. People could be
searching for information about all kinds of topics
related to floors...tile floors, granite floors, carpeted
floors, unfinished floors and so on. But, you want to
attract visitors who are looking for information
specifically about 'hardwood floor cleaners'. To get
qualified visitors to your site, you have use keywords or
keyword phrases that will hone in on your business.

Relevant Keywords

Make sure that the keywords you use are relevant to the
page that they are on. There's no point in using words or
phrases that don't relate to the information on the page.
It doesn't make sense to use a keyword or phrase just
because it gives you an opportunity to be highly ranked.
Once your visitor gets to a page, the content should make
sense, or you loose credibility and they don't stick
around.

Traffic

But what kind of traffic do you want? The kind of traffic
you want at your Website, is traffic that stays. Just
because you have a large volume of traffic, doesn't mean
your Internet marketing efforts are going to pay off.
What's important is that you get 'targeted' traffic...
visitors that have found what they are looking. It's
better to have fewer visitors, but more targeted prospects
that are more likely to buy.

Target Keywords

Be sure to use keywords that accurately reflect your
business. You may end up with fewer visitors, but you will
have better qualified visitors and in the end that means
higher revenue.

Using Google Adsense the Right Way

Why have you built your web site is it to create a passive or
multiple income stream some of us even pursue this as a career
and one of the biggest mistakes take I have seen from webmasters
is to join the Google Adsense plan and place the script code on
every page of their web sites. Don't get me wrong Google Adsense
is good but in the right place it is even better.

Now you have to stop and think as to why you have built a
website in the first place, are you selling a product of your
own or are you marketing affiliate programs!

The idea is to think about what you want your site to do and
generally it is not to send your visitors elsewhere.

MARKETING A Product of Your Own If this is the case you
are selling a product on your web sites why have you created an
adsense campaign to send your hard earned visitors to someone
else's web site at a profit to you of maybe 0.01 cents.

This is probably the most common mistake made, and really is the
easiest to correct.

Things to consider

*What is the sale of your product
worth to you?
*What do your affiliates pay you for a
sale on their site (usually more than the cents you are
currently getting)
*Are you happy with sending visitors
away from you site for a profit of 0.01 cent.( some affilate
programs offer you per click at 0.05 cents)

However, having said all of this there is a place for Google
adsense but it is not on your product page of your website.

Blog? Have you considered creating your own blog board
and starting a marketing campaign from there. Firstly your blog
board will be listed into the search engines much faster than
your web site. You can market specific keywords with your blog
while advertising your affiliates and building back links to
your site. This is all good for your site rankings and it does
not hurt your product page.

Affiliate Programs If you are just marketing affiliate
programs and are looking for turnover only, then Google Adsense
is a good way to do this. However some research is required to
discover what the best paying adsense campaigns are, again it is
a lot of work for 0.01 cent a click. There are some good paying
adsense campaigns you can use. In saying this you need to
optimize each of your pages to target these specific keywords.

Try to keep your Adsense code just below the header of your Page
and stay with the colors of your website so the banner becomes
part of your site and does not look out of place.

These are just some of the things that I have experimented with
and are currently using on the web sites that I market.
Hopefully this little bit of insight helps you to understand internet marketing and
the use of google adsense a little better.

Get Real-time Adsense Channel Stats And Find Out Which Ads Are Being Clicked

If you have multiple sites or multiple directories in your site
for different subjects and you have placed Adsense codes in your
site, I am sure you would like to know: (a) from which site or
directory you are earning the most / least, (b) which Adsense
ads are being clicked and (c) from which page?

CREATE CHANNELS FOR EACH SITE

To get separate stats for each site / section / directory / page
with Adsense, you need to create channels for each one. Create a
channel with a relevant name and generate a code for that
channel. Paste that particular Adsense code to the concerned
pages / sites.

GET CHANNEL STATS IN REAL TIME

Google now provides Channel Data in real time. Earlier, it used
to provide data for '2 days before'. Follow the procedure
mentioned below :

1. From 'Date Range' drop down menu, select 'today'.

2. Check the radio button : Group data by 'Channel'.

3. On the right hand panel, check the radio button 'Channel
data'.

4. Click on 'Select ALL' at the bottom of channel list.

5. Click on 'Display Report'.

Now you get the seggregated report for clicks generated for each
channel.

WHICH ADS ARE BEING CLICKED AND FROM WHICH PAGE?

It is very important to know that which pages / sites are
generating good Adsense revenue and which are not. We can work
upon those poorly performing pages. If we can get to know about
which ads are being clicked, that would make us feel more
informed for many obvious reasons.

Currently Google does not provide this data. But you can still
get it from a very nice and detailed free web stat service, Add
Free Stats.

Add Free Stats provides a very detailed web stats which
satisfies most webmasters. You may open a free account at :
http://www5.addfreestats.com, get the code and paste it at the
bottom of each of your pages.

Make sure that in 'Your Account' section you mark 'Yes' for
'Exit link tracking'.

Now check your stats at Add Free Stats, and you will find a "A"
icon beside the visitors' ip. That means that visitor has
clicked on an Adsense code. Place your mouse over the icon, and
you can see which ad has been clicked.

You can also generate a separate report of pages that have
generated Adsense click. Select 'Exit Links/Adsense' from the
drop down menu marked as 'Pages'. Here you get a folder icon
named Adsense, the number of Adsense clicks etc. Click on the
Adsense folder icon and you get the number of Adsense clicks on
each page and which ads are clicked on that page. Click on the
'hour glass' icon and you get the CTR, PV too for each page.

I am no way connected to Add Free Stats. I am just a happy user.
Any webmaster working seriously towards Adsense earning, must
have this tool.

Making Real Money With Google AdSense

There are many Make Money Fast (MMF) websites out there that
tell you it's possible to, well, you know, do just that; make
money fast. However, did you know that although some owners of
these MMF systems have made a total revenue between $300,000 and
$500,000, they're likely to be the same ones that turn up
missing later on down the road, on the run with hundreds of
thousands of consumer dollars? A dangerous situation to find
yourself in.

So why do people do it?

I'll tell you why. It's because of greed and lack of integrity.
Then again, it could just be because certain individuals in
particular are in a tight financial situation and essentially
need to find a way to make a little bit of extra cash fast to
pay off their bills for the month. Believe it or not, there are
indeed legit reasons why people seek out MMF websites.

But why risk yourself being in a situation where you end up
being part of the statistical count that contributed to those
hundreds of thousands of dollars that are now at the disposal of
the owner of a MMF chain, who presumably is nowhere to be found?
Because there is actually a better and more proven way to make
money through a company that has a lot of reputation and
integrity on the Internet, called Google. That's why!

How It Works: Great, Just Another Referral Downline System Again
No, not at all! What I'm about to show you has nothing to do
with referrals, works solely based on an honor system, and is
driven to success by the work you put into it. Although it is
indeed the fastest way I've made real money on the Internet
(well, aside from an online coding contractor I work for), you
still have to work for it.

So here's how it works. Company A out there is just being
started, and believes that they've found the answer to man's
problems. They're 99.9% sure that their product will sell. So
what do they do? They run to Google and pay them to list their
business in featured search result listings. This maximizes
Company A's exposure out on the web. Google will also list
Company A's advertisements in what is called Google AdSense
(textual advertising). These are usually content related text
advertisements which webmasters and publishers place
strategically on their website and are commonly recognized as
"Ads by Google."

The webmasters and publishers that put forth Google AdSense on
their websites are first approved for AdSense. Once a high
volume of traffic starts flowing through their website, those
AdSense banners start generating revenues as more and more
clicks on the links are received. So if you haven't figured out
by now, this is indeed a Pay Per Click (PPC) system.

How Much?: Expected Potential Earnings You're probably wanting
to know right away how much you'll be earning. So I'll just give
you a rough estimate of what to expect assuming all goes well
with your website. If done properly, a single website can
generate on average, revenues ranging between $200-$600 a month.
Not bad, considering this is only for one website. I don't like
jumping the gun too soon like this, but let's fast forward in
time where this is indeed how much your website is making. Now
what? Start up another site! This doubles your income over two
streams of revenues, and with each making $200-$600 a month, you
can see how things can really add up!

Getting Started: Making The First Step Towards Success These
first few steps are extremely critical so please pay attention
to detail.

You will need a web hosting provider - Please, I urge you, don't
settle for anything less than what you're capable of doing. Go
the extra mile and actually subscribe to a cheap web hosting
provider. The one currently hosting The Article Project is
SurfSpeedy.com on a redundant Cisco network and OC-48 SONET
rings. In other words, 99.9999% uptime. I'm currently getting
all the server side scripting I need, a secure hosting system,
fast network, 1000MB of hosting space, and delegation for my
domain, along with tons of other features I'll probably never
use during the life of the account. How much am I paying for all
this? Less than $5.00 a month! Once you have a place to serve up
your website, start looking into registering a domain name - Try
to aim for something that you and your visitors can remember off
the top of their head if they were to look at it once and almost
forget about it. If your website is about "How To Use The
Internet," see if www.usingtheinternet.com is available. When
you've decided on a name, I'd recommend you go with iDotz.net
and register a .com domain for less than $9.00 a year! The
reason I'd recommend them is because they were the first ones I
ran into that allowed you to pay via PayPal. Now put those two
together, web hosting and a good domain name, and you're set to
go! Create a plan for action and stick to it - I'll be honest
with you upfront. Chances are, you may not reach your financial
goal by the end of the first month. In fact, the excitment of
being able to get your money's worth out of the work you put
into your website, may turn into monotony and discouragement.
But don't lose hope! You need to stick to what you've set out to
do, keep your website up to date on the hour if necessary, and
make sure your visitors have plenty to read! Avoid rambling on
about nothing and don't cheat - Google has perhaps the largest
database in the world, full of website listings and search
results. Chances are, if you mirror your website with another
content saturated website that's been around for quite some
time, and Google does one of their special keyword analysis
trick on your website and finds out about it, your AdSense
application will most likely be turned down for unauthentic
content. Have an open mind and be creative with your writing.
Shoot for about 25 solid web pages before you submit your Google
AdSense application. Bottom line, give them something to talk
about! You'll need it in the months to come! Begin formulating
marketing thoughts - This is perhaps where the line between
sanity, and spamity comes in that you'll end up approaching
before too long. Some webmasters can't keep their cool and end
up going off the deep end, spamming hundreds of innocent lives,
and contaminating hundreds more of chat rooms and IRC channels.
Don't do this! Play it smart and submit your website manual to
search engines that provide the service for free. One great way
to do this is to submit your site to The Open Directory Project
at dmoz.org. It may take a few weeks, but your listing will
eventually show up in Google as well. Also, sign up with
TrafficSwarm.com and surf for unlimited free credits that can be
redeemed for visitors. I've acquired over 2700 credits through
TrafficSwarm. It took me a few days, but it saved me $40.00 of
having to pay for just as many credits by simply surfing for a
few days. Stay on top of things - Keep yourself one step ahead
of your visitors. For every 100 visitors (unique or not) that
come, plan to write one more article or section of your website;
make it a news item or something. Keep your website clean and
neatly organized, don't let it end up looking like your
brother's bedroom or closet a few months down the road from now.
And if things begin to pick up with your website, set aside an
email account and allow your visitors to send in their own
articles or writings for you to publish. This in itself could be
very rewarding because not only will your visitors end up
generating your revenues, but they could also end up being your
main supplier of articles to publish. The main point of
discussion here, though, is to stay on top of things and keep up
with the work. You'll eventually be glad you did later on down
the line when you're short $200 on a down payment for a new
Honda Civic. Getting Finished: Bringing Your Website Before the
Judges Okay, so this is the moment you've all been waiting for.
Spit shine that last corner of your website and get ready to
show it off. Then make your way over to
http://www.google.com/adsense and send in your application. It
will take a couple days for your application to be reviewed and
accepted, if in the likely event that it is. Once you've been
approved, login to your account and start generating your text
advertisements, placing them neatly on your website. Then let
the fun begin!

Relevant Ads Increase Adsense Profits

If you've started using Adsense as a way to increase advertising
income, but the numbers just aren't adding up to what you
expected, the problem might be with the ads themselves. If the
ads being generated by Google's Adsense aren't relevant to your
website, visitors won't click on them. And, no click-y, no
money. It's that simple. And it's a simple situation to fix.

One way to know if the ads are working is to monitor the
click-through-rate (CTR) on a page. If it's low, it's usually an
indication that once a visitor arrived at your page using a
certain keyword, that visitor did not find any ads relevant to
that keyword. And unfortunately for you, the visitor found no
reason to click on the ads.

How do I know this? It happened on my website. On one of my
sites, I had a page dedicated to PHP programming (a programming
language). The page had a low CTR. Upon further examination of
the page, I noticed that not one of the ads was related to
programming or even to technology.

What I did notice was that the ads were related to guitars.
Guitars? I thought to myself, "What relevance do guitars have to
PHP programming?" And I imagined visitors to my site wondered
this as well.

After studying the ads, I noticed that one word seemed to keep
jumping out at me. The word was "strings" as in guitar strings.
Well strings are used in programming too, but Google was not
able to make this distinction which is why it was generating
guitar ads!

The solution to this problem was simple. I removed from my
webpage the words "string" and "strings" (or I just used another
word in place of string or strings). After Google found this
page again and updated its view of it, the guitar ads were
replaced with relevant ads. And best of all? CTR on this page
immediately increased and so did my advertising income!

If you have a page with a low CTR, you may need to tweak your
text so Adsense generates ads that are more relevant to the
page. When making these types of changes to your webpages, use
the same ideas you use for search engine optimization. Why?

Because Google uses the same logic to determine the appropriate
Adsense ads to display on your page as it does to determine if
your article should rank high for "blue widgets."

Some areas on your page that might need a bit of text tweaking
include:

- The title of the page - The H1-tags used in the page - The
number of occurrences of the keywords in the text of the article
- Changing the filename (this can be very effective, but only do
this for new pages that are not yet in the search engines or you
risk losing traffic)

One word of advice: Don't forget that your keywords determine
your search engine rankings so take small steps when changing
keywords.

And remember, the only ads that will bring you the extra Adsense
income you're looking for are relevant ads!

More Adsense Blocks

Google has recently made some changes in their Adsense program,
and webmasters, busy as they are, may not be aware of all the
Adsense news. For those who don't know, Adsense is the
Pay-per-click (PPC) revenue sharing program offered by Google to
webmasters who run primarily content-oriented sites. The Adsense
program offers a way for these webmasters to generate revenue
where they couldn't in the past.

After signing up for the program, webmasters place a bit of code
on their web pages where they want to display Adsense. Google's
technology determines the subject matter of the page, and
displays relevant ads on that page. If a visitor clicks on one
of the ads, the advertiser pays Google, and the webmaster
receives a share of the proceeds.

One of the biggest changes is that webmasters can now have
multiple "blocks" or units of Adsense on their pages. Since the
program started, Google has allowed only one block, but they now
allow up to three per page. This means webmasters can get three
shots for a visitor seeing and clicking on an ad. The blocks
don't all have to be the same format - you can choose from any
of several formats available, and all can have different border,
text, and background formatting. You are able to specify
alternate ads for each unit. In cases where Google's software
isn't able to determine a theme to your page, Google will
display Public Service ads. However, webmasters can choose to
display their own ads, such as for affiliate products, instead.

As with most things, you'll need to test formatting, placement,
and other variables to see which combination brings the best
click-through rate for you, whether you use one, two, or three
Adsense units.

I use Adsense a lot on this web site http://www.theezine.net -
Just a slight hint for you.

Want Higher Adsense Earnings? Then Optimize Site Navigation

Webmasters know that Adsense generates a sizeable source of
additional advertising income. That's why they're using it to go
after the "high paying keywords." They've bought the lists that
tell them what these keywords are and they've used various other
methods of identifying them. And yet, after putting up these
"high paying" pages on their websites, the advertising money
they expected to see isn't rolling in. What's wrong?

Well, having those pages is one thing. But driving visitors to
those pages is an entirely different thing and is often what's
lacking. To get visitors to your high paying keyword pages,
you've got to optimize site navigation.

Take a moment to think about how visitors use your website.
After landing on a certain page, they'll often click to another
page that sounds interesting. They get there by way of the other
links that appear on the page they landed on. How you enable
visitors to move about your website is what is meant by the
term, "Site Navigation."

A typical website has a menu of links on each page. The wording
on these links is what grabs a visitor's attention and gets them
to click on one of the links that will take them to another page
of your website. Links labeled "Free Resources" or "Download
ebooks" are generally good attention-grabbers.

This same site navigation logic applies to driving traffic to
your high paying pages. I have some pages on my website that get
a lot of traffic from search engines, but the earnings on these
pages are very low. I use cleverly-labeled links to get visitors
off these pages and onto my higher earning pages. It's a great
and inexpensive way to turn cheap clicks into real dollars.

Ready, Set, Test

Before you begin testing, you've got to have two things:
something to track and compare; and some high earning pages you
want to funnel your site traffic to. For fast results, select a
few of your highly visited pages.

Next think of ways to get visitors viewing a particular page to
click on a link to one of your high earning pages. That'll help
you come up with a catchy description for the link. And
remember, you can use graphics to grab your visitors' attention.
Be creative!

And remember, it's all about location, location, location. Once
you've come up with the attention-grabbing description, you've
got to identify the perfect spot on your page for positioning
the descriptive link to your high paying page.

Spend some time visiting other websites to see how they're
maximizing site navigation. For example, using a "Hot Pages"
list or a "Most Read Articles" list are common menu selections.

Then let the testing begin. Try putting different text on
different pages. That way you'll get a feel for what works and
what doesn't. Mix things up a bit - put links on the top of the
page and the bottom.

It's now all a matter of testing and tracking, and testing and
tracking until you find the site navigation setup that works
best!

Can I make money online with the Adsense Program ?

Sure you can. If you will learn how many other people make money
online with Adsense, I mean really study how and ask a lot of
questions on marketing forums, there is no reason in the world
you cannot make money with the Adsense program.

Before starting to develop this opportunity to make money online
you need to understand some basic things about Adsense. I will
outline some benefits and disadvantages about Adsense here.

Let's start with the Adsense benefits:

You don't have to pay a fee to use this program. You can apply
for free.

You can join the Adsense program very easy. After you are
accepted into the program you just have to paste a bit of code
into your pages.

Because of their method to identify what a page is all about you
don't have to spend time finding advertisers, they will place on
your page the exact advertisers you need.

If you own a really big network of sites, you don't have to
apply for each of them. Just apply once and use the same code on
every site.

And many other benefits but let's take a look at the
disadvantages too:

The biggest disadvantage that most users report is that the
stats Google supplies are inadequate. Even if they're very easy
to understand they don't tell you which ads people are clicking
on, or which keywords are involved. That's very frustrating.

The minimum payout is $100, users that have sites which don't
receive much traffic say that it's too high. If you plan on
doing from adsense a successful business. don't worry about this.

If you want to display adsense ads you may not display other
text based ads on the same page with them. When you apply humans
will check your site for approval, if you are rejected just try
to understand why they did, fix it and appeal again.

You will never know how much from the amount that advertisers
pay you will receive. You will just receive an unknown
percentage from that amount.

With this benefits and disadvantages in mind you can now start
to learn all the inside secrets of adsense and develop a real
online business. You can start doing so by reading about it on
major make money online forums, tring to understand all there's
about it many users discuss this topic very deep.

AdSense Stats and Performance 101

Article:
As more and more people are getting into the AdSense game, there
seem to be many questions asked again and again by the
newcomers. Here, I have compiled detailed explanations to some
common AdSense terms, facts, and performance tips.

Terminology

Real Stats (Figures based on actual performance tracking updated
several times a day) Page Impressions: The number of times an ad
unit (a collection of 1 to 4 ads). If you have two ad units on a
page, then every time the page loads you get two page
impressions. Page Impressions DO include PSA (Public Service
Ads) and Alternate Ads. Clicks: The number of times someone
clicks on an ad. Clicks on PSA will be included in this stat as
well. Earnings: Money you've made.

Derived Stats (Figures calculated from the real stats)
Clickthrough Rate: Clicks/Page Impressions. It is expressed as a
percentage. Effective CPM:. Earnings per thousand page
impressions. Calculated by 1000 X Earnings / Page Impressions
EPC: Your EPC is not displayed because it does not really
matter. EPC stands for Earnings Per Click (Earnings/Clicks) and
is frequently talked about.

Facts (What we've discovered)

1. Stats Update Frequency/Delay: Although AdSense stats usually
updates every couple hours, you don't need to panic at all if
you see no change in your stats for over 12 hours. Even if other
webmasters are seeing normal updates.

2. Don't worry about anomalies in your stats during the course
of the day. These are not accurate. There could be delays in the
update due to one reason or another. Only when you see figures
for a new day can you know that the figures for the previous day
are not going to change any more.

3. Sometimes the stats are carried forward several days. This
happens when Google decides to freeze your clicks and earnings
for fraud checking/tracking purposes or server delays. Thus, you
may notice your earnings/clicks shoot straight up when you least
expect it. It is possible for your CTR to go up by as much as
10% and your CPM to raise $200 over the normal.

4. The update on the different stats are not synchronized. For
example, when you check your account, the page impressions may
be freshed updated, while the clicks and earnings are from two
hours ago. Thus, there may be a sharp drop/increase in the
derived stats. Due to this, you don't need to fret over all
these little bumps.

5. Often delays in updates foreshadow changes to the AdSense
program. For example, slow updates preceded introduction of
channels, TOS changes, and addition of new languages.

6. Channels are a great way for you to track the performance of
your ad on a particular page/site. If you want to use the same
code for all of your pages, you can also use the recently added
URL channels. Of course, channel data are delayed by two days.

Performance Tips

1. EPC doesn't matter! That is because you have absolutely no
control over your EPC. Your EPC is influenced by many variables
including your webpage content, advertiser's budget, seasonal
fluctuations and more. Thus, the productive thing to do is
concentrate on the factors that you have control over such as
CTR and page impressions.

2. How am I doing? Many of us probably wonder how we are doing
compared to other AdSense users, including myself. However, we
really can't get a good sense of the average if Google doesn't
disclose their figures, which they don't. Since people doing
well with AdSense generally don't like to reveal their earnings
due to the fear that they may be terminated by the program, any
discussion about an average EPC/CTR/CPM is a waste of time.

3. From various experiments by myself and other webmasters, we
can conclude (at least for now) that using image/text ads
instead of just text ads will dramatically decrease you CTR
because of various reasons. (i.e. fewer advertisers, banner
blindness etc.) However, the EPC is usually slightly higher.

4. Blend in or stand out? This is completely site dependent.
Sometimes, people will never click on your ads unless you
"trick" them into doing so, although this is not so good for
long term. Other sites will require your ad to scream in your
visitor's face to get good clicks. Do some extensive testing to
find out what's good for your site.

5. Make good use of the URL filter feature. Blocking repetitive
(eBay ads) or boring ads (free smilies) will definitely increase
your CTR.

6. Large rectangles placed above the fold will often generate
most revenue. However, this may not be a good long term solution
since such and ad is usually obstrusive and have little
aesthetic value.

7. If you run a forum site, you may notice that your earnings
are very low. Here is a solution: use a simple cookie-based php
script that only displays AdSense ads once every 10 page views
-- essentially a counter counts down from 10 to 0 and on 0
displays an AdSense block. Between the AdSense ads, display
regular banner ads. Although your AdSense page impressions may
be down, you will notice your CTR skyrocketing, and a large
increase in overall earnings.

In conclusion: Play around with your ad to maximize your
performance, and look at the big picture in your stats!

Google Adsense 27 tip collection

Google Adsense Tips

If you hear about people achieving high payments per click with AdSense, remember that's only part of the story. You also need lots of page views and a high click-through rate.

Here are some ideas on how to achieve those three things:

1. If you're starting afresh designing a site specifically for AdSense revenue, you'll want a simple design that makes it easy to paste Google's code into a horizontal or vertical space on the site. For experienced webmasters, that's easy.

2. To increase your click-throughs, design a simple, uncluttered page with the AdSense ads displayed prominently.

3. Use white space, so that the AdSense panel catches the eye.

4. Stick to only one topic per page – that should make it easier for Google to serve up highly relevant ads on your pages.

5. Plain, bland pages with few competing hyperlinks should result in higher click-through rates on the AdSense ads.

6. If you want to target certain high-priced keywords, use them in the file name, in the heading on the page, and in the first paragraph – in other words, use search engine optimization techniques.

7. If you change those keywords, Google will change the ads that appear on your page.

8. Watch out for cases where Google has guessed wrong, and is displaying ads that won't interest your visitors. Figure out which words are involved, and rewrite those words. Help Google by sticking closely to the topic.

9. Don't worry about losing traffic via those clicks. If you can earn maybe 30 or 50 cents or more per click, you WANT to lose visitors!

10. You'll also want keyword-rich pages, optimized to rank highly in search engines, so you can serve lots of pages.

11. Where possible, use skyscraper ads, high on the page. They catch visitors' attention more than horizontal banner ads.

12. One of the beautiful things about AdSense is that you can now generate revenue from informational sites even if there are no obvious related affiliate programs. With 100,000 advertisers, there's a good chance that Google will find ads that match your pages, better than the big ad networks can.

13. Don't be tempted into trying to create thousands of spammy computer-generated articles. Human beings review sites for AdSense. Build useful, interesting sites. Google likes them.

Even More Tips

14. Have a look at the top 100 keywords on 7search. This will give you a quick idea of keywords that people are willing to pay big money for. You can also type phrases into the 7Search Keyword Suggestion Tool. This is just step one of your keyword research. You'll want to dig deeper.

15. At FindWhat pay-per-click search engine you can do a search for any phrase and quickly see how much advertisers are paying per click.

16. If you have a Google AdWords account, you can experiment. Pretend you are planning to advertise using different keywords, and see how much you'd have to pay. That will give you a good indication of the popularity of the keywords.

17. You can also experiment typing words into Overture's View Bids Tool. Let's say you type in "asbestos cancer . The top three advertisers often pay about $12 per click. So that would be an good choice for a topic – provided you're a specialist on mesothelioma. For "debt consolidation", the top two advertisers often pay more than $9 per click.

18. The Overture Keyword Bid Amounts Lookup Tool speeds up your research at Overture. Type in a keyword and learn how much advertisers are paying per click at Overture and also find out how many searches were done on that keyword last month.

19. KeywordSleuth is a wonderful tool for very fast keyword research. You can find hundreds or even thousands of keywords – or key phrases – with just one click. It's fabulous to use if all you want is to find an enormous number of related key phrases with one click – much better than messing around with Overture. Try the free trial.

20. You can use Wordtracker to look for the 1,000 most popular keywords. You can also use it to compile a useful list of keywords relating to one topic. If you buy it for a day or a week, you can do a lot of research in that time. There's a free trial, too.

21. The brainstorming and research tools in Site Build It! are my favorite way to do research for keywords that are in high demand and low supply.. SBI is a superb tool – actually, a suite of tools. It's an all-in-one web hosting, site-building and web marketing tool. Type in a keyword and SBI Manager will present you with dozens of profitable keywords – ones with high demand and low supply. It can present them in order of profitability. Drill down, and you'll get dozens more profitable keywords.

22. It also has an "Analyze it" tool that helps you build keyword-rich pages that rank highly in search engines. It's simply superb. I use it and love it. Site Build It! is an excellent choice for quickly building large, simple sites designed to rank highly in search engines – which makes it perfect for generating lots of AdSense revenue. Check it out.

My Site is Rejected From Adsense

Of course, if your site is rejected, it doesn't mean it is poorly developed. There may be other reasons. See below:

23. Is your site an "About Me" page? Google does not accept these kinds of personal sites because most of them do not have a specific topic. They are usually just random facts about the web site owner. It would be difficult for Google's technology to display targeted ads on these kinds of pages.
They are looking for sites that contain a generous amount of information on a certain topic. It could be anything from golfing tips to hair care techniques. Just make sure there is an obvious theme with original content.

24. Is your site organized? Be sure your site has a neat and clean navigation that's easy to follow. Also ensure all the links work and that there are no typos. Keep the colors to a minimum and make sure each page has a consistent layout.

25. How many pages are on your site? Even though Google doesn't specify a page number requirement, they are obviously looking for web sites with a decent amount of content. Again, it's not likely a two-page site will get accepted. Try to strive for at least 20 pages.

26. Is your content solid? Don't just submit a web site with a bunch of links to other sites. Be sure you have enough original content of your own to make your site unique.

27. Be sure to read the program policy and procedures carefully and make sure your site hasn't violated any of the terms.

How to Increase Your Adsense Revenue

If you're a webmaster, you've probably heard about Google's Adsense. Perhaps you're even earning from it already. This article will show you a method to increase your Adsense revenue dramatically.

Google's Adsense allows webmasters to place links from Google's Adwords advertisers on their webpages by inserting a special code. When a visitor clicked on a link, the webmaster gets a cut of the profit Google made from the advertiser.

The unique feature about Adsense is that the links it generates on your webpage are relevant to your page content. Thus, your keywords and topics become very important determinant for the type of links that will appear on your webpage.

There are only two factors that determine how much a webmaster can make from Adsense. The first factor is the number of visitors who click on the links.

The more people who clicked on the links, the more you make. Naturally, this means that the more targetted traffic to the website, the more you'll make. This is where most webmasters focus their efforts on.

The second factor is the value of the links they clicked on. Here's where you can make a great difference to your earnings from Adsense and is our focus in this article.

Let's take a look at how this works:

Suppose you have 1000 visitors to your website and you get 2% conversion, that is 20 people clicked on your Adsense links. Let's assume that your Adsense links pay you only 50 cents per click. So you earn $10 dollars.

Now let's see how much this same traffic will make for you if your Adsense links pay you $5 per click. For the same number of clicks, you make $100 dollars. That's a ten-fold increased in revenue!

Well, that makes sense, you said, but how am going to determine what type of links appear on my webpages?

Good questions!

Here's where you'll need to do a little research and here's a tool to help you do just that.

Go over to http://www.pixelfast.com/overture/ and you'll get a tool that shows you how much each keyword is worth. While this tool is for Overture's keywords, we can safely assume that this reflects the keyword values for Googles Adwords as well.

Once you've found the keywords with high monetary values, you can optimize your webpages for them. This will increase your chances of having these high value keyword links appearing on your webpages.

Some people have actually made extensive researches on Google's top paying keywords and found that one or two keywords are worth almost $100!

However, generally most keywords are valued at between 50 cents and $5 dollars. Some keywords like "internet marketing" may fetch up to $7 dollars and "mortgage" pays up to $10 dollars.

These values may change from time to time but they generally hover around these levels. Naturally, this information is priceless and you'll have to pay to get it. I feel it is worth every cent you paid for it. You can check it out at http://theselfimprovementsite.com/links/top-paying-keywords.html

And there you have it! A single factor that can radically increase your Adsense revenue!

Making Dollars and Cents from Google's New AdSense

Google's done it again with the recent launch of their new program, "AdSense." This program gives website owners the ability to generate cash simply by displaying AdWords Ads on their pages. You must first apply to be approved into the program; then they give you some code to put on your web pages that displays their "Adwords Text Ads" on your site.

The ads can be displayed vertically or horizontally, whichever works better with your site's format. You'll also have the ability to customize the appearance of the ads, choosing from preset color palettes so the ads will blend with your website.

You're paid so much every time someone clicks on any of the displayed ads. Google uses its technology to decide the content of your web pages so only relevant ads are shown. If you're worried about showing ads that may compete with your own services or products there is a filtering system you can take advantage of.

The buzz on the Net is you can make some decent income if you already have some decent traffic. No one knows exactly how much, since Google restricts participants from discussing exact results they are having with others. You'll be paid every 30 days as long as you reach the 100.00 minimum payout.

If you sell your own products/services you might not want to join Adsense, as there's no way to keep direct competitors' ads from showing up. Adsense works best on information/resource sites that have a lot of great content. Google does not accept sites dealing with profanity/gambling/hate or violence. If your site deals with any of these themes don't bother applying. They also don't like pop ups so make sure you remove any you may have on your site before applying.

For a quick review of what's acceptable, see http://google.com/adsense/policies. You'll know within 24 to 48 hours if you're accepted, as you'll be notified by email where to go and pick up your codes.

There are two different ways to add the Adwords ads to your website pages:

Banner Format - Displays 2 ads in a horizontal format like a banner layout

Skyscraper Format: Displays up to 4 ads vertically in the right or left page margin. The majority of sites I've seen prefer this method, usually placing the ads on the right hand side of their webpages.

To apply for Adsense go to http://www.google.com/adsense/application-1 and fill out the short application. There's no commitment on your end and you can remove the ads and cancel at anytime.

There's really no set website length or traffic required to be accepted, but the rumor online seems to be you must have a minimum of 50 unique visitors a day and a minimum site size of 20 pages with good content. Again, these stats are not set in stone just popular believe by many of the "experts." For a complete overview, see http://google.com/adsense/overview

If you're really interested in running Adsense on your website but are hesitant since you don't know what kind of ads will be displayed there, I found a really cool online tool at http://www.about-adsense.com/adsense-web-tool.html Just type in your url and you'll be shown an example of the types of ads that will appear on your site.

The New Google Ad Links

You know about Google Adsense, now it's Google Ad Links for
Google Adsense publishers.

[ For who do not yet know what Google Adsense is : "Google
AdSense is a fast and easy way for website publishers of all
sizes to display relevant, unobtrusive Google ads on their
website's content pages and earn money," - says Google. To open
a Google Adsense account, please visit:
https://www.google.com/adsense ]

What are Google Ad Links?

"Ad Links are a new form of text advertising that we're offering
to our AdSense publishers. Using the same contextual targeting
algorithm that targets Google ads to your content pages, Ad
Links units display a list of topics that are relevant to your
page. Each topic, when clicked, brings the user to a page of
related advertisements", - this is how Ad Links are defined by
Google.

Basically, Google Ad Links are vertically placed links of 4 or 5
keywords related to the content of your page. On clicking a
link, the visitor is shown a list of Ads by Google on that
particular keyword. If the visitor clicks on an ad, you get your
commission.

So, why do you need to put Ad Links in your page?

Simple. Because you want to earn maximum revenue from each of
the pages of your site.

According to Google, you are allowed to put max. 3 Adsense
codes. But experts say that displaying too many Adsense ads in a
page distract the attention of the visitors and they lose
interest in the site. Therefore it's always advised to put only
one Adsense code and that too close to the main content of the
page, to get the best results.

By placing just one Adsense code and no Leaderboard or
Skyscraper, are we losing out some opportunities to earn more
clicks on Adsense Ads?

No. Because that's where Ad Links come in. Let me describe the
usage of Ad Links with an example :

I have a page on 'Engagement Rings' at :
http://thewebcontent.com/Relationships/Relationships_Article_56.p
hp I use 250x250 Square Adsense code with the first paragraph of
the article. This code displays only 3 Adsense Ads.

Now, I have placed Ad Links code just above the top of my left
panel menu bar. Google currently displays 5 related keywords to
the page : Engagement Ring, Carat Diamond, Ideal Diamonds, Gia
Diamond and Gem Stone Ring. Each of the keywords are clickable.

Through these links, I get access to : 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 4 =
TOTAL 44 Adsense Ads! (at the time of writing this article)

In case, Google does not find related keywords for a page, it
displays a tiny search box. Visitors can put any keyword of
their choice, and Google shows all Adsense Ads related to the
keyword searched for!

Isn't it incredible? ...that too without disturbing visitors?
Actually, it helps visitors, because they always look for links
related to the subject they have come to our sites for.

The main advantage of Google Ad Links are that, they are
displayed just like we display vertical menu-one link each line.
Though Ad Links code displays "Ad Links by Google" boldly, but
it gives a look of being a part of your vertical menu. And
that's definitely a great advantage.

To add Ad Links to your page, please follow the instructions
below :

1. Log on to your Adsense account

2. Click on "Ad Settings"

3. Select the Radio Button which says : "Ad Links Units".

4. Select 4 or 5 links per ad links unit from the drop down menu

5. Select Ad layout options : 120x90, 160x90, 180x90 or 200x90
depending upon your page layout.

6. If you have saved custom Color Palettes, select the palette
of your choice.

7. Copy-paste the Ad Links code from the textarea box and place
it to your web site in desired place

That's all! But remember that you can place only one Ad Links
code in a page. If you put more than one, others will not
generate any link.

If you are an Adsense publisher, there is no reason why you will
not add Ad Links to your page.

What do you think?

Will The Google AdSense Program Survive?

Almost everyone is now aware of the Google AdSense program that has taken the Internet by storm. The Google AdSense program lets webmasters place Google's paid sponsor listings on their web sites and collect a percent of the bid amount when someone clicks on one of the listings.

I have been reading many ezines that I receive and every publisher seems to be making a huge hoopla about Google's new program.

In my opinion, it is seriously overblown.

Now, this article might make a few people unhappy who are counting on the Google AdSense program to finally be their "oasis of Internet riches."

But somebody has to be the devil's advocate. :)

Discussion boards, chat rooms and advertisers are buzzing about the Google AdSense program like it is the California Gold Rush all over again!

Do you know how many people made money during the California goldrush?

Not many.

The reason was quite simple. Thousands of people flocked to California in 1849 to claim their gold riches, but ended up with nothing.

There were a few people who made some money finding gold, but the real people who made a fortune were the ones who provided food, accommodation and laundry services to the thousands of people who flocked to California.

In fact, laundry services were so expensive that people had to ship their clothes to Hawaii to be washed for a cheaper price.

The people who will probably make a lot of money with the Google AdSense program are the ones who sell complimentary products or services.

For example, don't be surprised if you soon see an ebook "How To Make $100,000 A Year With Google AdSense" which will probably be a flimsy report that tells you to create targeted web sites that attract top dollar paid listings from Google AdSense.

But guess what, hundreds of naive people will probably buy this ebook and many other products and services that will pop up that are related to the Google AdSense program.

I am currently using the Google AdSense program on a few of my web sites and it does bring in revenue each month, but I don't expect it to stay at the same level.

I'll tell you why I feel this way.

When the Internet first started, everyone was making a huge hoopla about how you could put banners on your web site and make money.

But what happened?

Internet surfers started becoming immune to banner advertisements and the average click-thru ratio on banners has now dropped below 0.5%. Many banner ad networks have slowly died and gone out of business.

As Google AdSense listings start to appear on thousands of web sites, Internet surfers will slowly become immune to these listings, which will result in lower click-thrus and revenues for webmasters.

Overture.com is planning on launching their "Content-Match" program which is similar to the Google AdSense program, so regardless of what you believe, Internet surfers will become immune to text listings.

Many people hail the Google AdSense program as a long-term advertising solution because its technology analyzes the web page and delivers *relevant* and *targeted* listings that will interest web site visitors.

But banner networks have been doing this for years without much luck, so why the big commotion if Google has text listings that are relevant to the content on your web pages?

This is nothing new.

Just as banner networks had to deal with false click-thrus, Google will have to somehow tackle the same problem. The Google AdSense program is a perfect environment for a fraud ring as is the case with many pay-per-click search engines that operate revenue sharing programs.

How do I know?

Because my company witnessed it on our very own pay-per-click search engine BulletBid.com. Basically what happens is that organized groups of individuals sign up as affiliate partners and then they all take turns visiting each other's web sites and clicking on the paid listings.

This is something that is hard to track because the IP address of each click on the same listing is different. We managed to track the culprits because

1) We didn't have an overly huge amount of affiliates and

2) The software we use had built-in fraud detectors to alert us that something could be wrong.

But with the Google AdSense program, there will be tens of thousands of webmasters running paid listings on their web sites. It will be very difficult to track who is collaborating with who.

I have a feeling that Google's staff knows this and that is why they allow advertisers to opt-out of appearing on partner web sites.

But if Google cannot track down fraudulent clicks, this will result in paid advertisers having a lower sales conversion ratio from the traffic that Google sends them.

This will result in advertisers lowering their bids and honest webmasters who host the Google AdSense listings receiving lower revenue payments.

Given the factors mentioned above, webmasters might in future find it more profitable to go back to their old affiliate links.

So what is the answer to the question, "Will the Google AdSense program survive?"

The answer is yes, but webmasters shouldn't expect to make as much money once the initial goldrush is over.

Is Your Website Content Worth Reading or Obvious Search Engine Bait?

Webmasters are always looking for ways to increase their traffic and exposure. This is natural and will never change. No one is ever content with their traffic levels.

But problems arise with this reality as well. While it is good to be motivated to get as much traffic as possible, it is tempting to try and cut corners and use tactics that are temporary rather than permanent solutions.

And there are myriad tactics that can take your entire business down the tubes as well. The trick is not to be tempted with short-term gain over long-term income from your web business.

Many webmasters are aware that "content is king" and that you have to brand your site to make sales and build credibility. But most people only take these facts at face value and only as they pertain to the search engines. Big mistake.

Your content is your lifeblood for more reasons than search engine placement. This is your "face" on the net.

So if you're using new strategies to bring in more targeted traffic, make sure you don't use something that could kill your business just to get some short term traffic.

Many people are putting article directories on their sites these days. Having a set of articles on your site is great for building credibility and making more sales, if you do it right.

But as is always the case, I see people taking that to the extreme and missing the point entirely. Now I see some webmasters completely emptying out the big article directories like GoArticles.com to put hundreds or even thousands of articles on their sites.

With no editorial review they just take the whole category their site fits in best and grab up any and all articles in it. Remember, anyone can get into an article directory whether they can write or not. Whether they are an expert or not. Want those guys on your site representing you?

I have a smaller article directory than most people at
http://webmastertraffictools.com/articledirectory/

Why so small? Because I review each and every article that is submitted there. There is a very good reason for this.

To get someone to first visit your site takes money and time. Once you have them there it is easier to get them back if you impress them.

Whatever methods of temporary website promotion you use, you have to keep in mind that you want something that will work for you for years, not months. Therefore, if all you ever do is troll for temporary traffic you will ALWAYS be promoting as hard as you are today. Wasn't part of the reason you started working online to work less and make more?

Me, I want to have a network of sites that eventually promote themselves so I can spend the rest of my life on vacation. If you don't start laying down the foundation of that kind of system, you are never going to be able to retire with your site(s) supporting you.

Putting up content for content's sake is redundant. Other people's content is already on hundreds of other pages.

You don't stand out in the crowd that way alone. It is temporary at best if it works at all for you, and once people get to your site and realize you have harvested all your content from a directory they have already read through, you've made an enemy, not a customer out of them.

AND if you were unscrupulous enough to even reprint articles from people who spammed that directory with ads, poor english, poor advice, and everything else, I guarantee your visitors are leaving your site with no respect for you, whatever you sell, and with a deep hatred of "sites like yours" on the net.

That is not a long-term plan for a web business. See what I mean by temporary? No repeat traffic is no business at all.

So while my article directories are smaller, they have timely, relevant content from expert authors who can spell and who really spent time on their pieces.

Therefore I get repeat traffic, more clicks on ads, more sales of products, and a real income from that directory that will last as long as I own the site.

Points to Ponder:

1. Content is not king. GOOD content is king.

2. Repeat business is cheaper than new business.

3. Your name and brand are the only thing of singular value and importance to you on the web.

4. And short-term solutions to getting in the engines are always just that: short-term

Someday, if you are one of the webmasters I talked about above who only see the short-term picture, you are going to get tired of all the work you have to constantly do to keep traffic coming in.

And the worst part is, since you will have no foundation to rely on when you need a break, you won't be able to take one. If your focus on website promotion is always on short campaigns and tricking search engines temporarily into thinking your site is of actual value, once you stop what you're doing (probably from sheer burnout) your income also stops.

But if you have the foresight to build a base for your internet business, and you pay attention to and have standards for the kind of content you put up, you will be able to walk away from your business from time to time and the traffic and interest will still be there.

For me it is unthinkable to base my entire business on temporary solutions for getting traffic and sales when, if you have seen what you can make in the short term, why not get set up to reap those rewards for life?

But that's just me. I profit greatly from people doing it the other way. Simply because when someone comes to my site and sees content of value, they feel as though they have found an oasis in a desert of trash. A place they will visit more than twice and gladly bookmark.

You can figure out the value of that kind of response for yourself, as it pertains to your business in particular.

Between the two choices, I'll take repeat and recommended traffic over fly-by-night, angry, resentful traffic any day of the week!

Confessions of an AdSense Addict

By David Westbrook

Because I used to work on a crisis line, I’ve heard a-lot stories of how drugs crept up on people and took over their lives. I once talked to a self-admitted drug dealer who had trafficked in pot for years.

It was how this person made most of her living; she even had a state issued medical marijuana card so that she could always be in possession without getting busted.

One day a friend introduced her to the profits that could be made from selling methamphetamine, so she started dealing crank; doing a little herself on the side. A month later, she was calling the crisis line looking for treatment. Crank was destroying her faster than she had ever imagined possible.

On December 22, 2004, I was making my living in the normal way that a lot of people do, working for the man. That evening I had to drop my dog off at my brother-in-law’s house before leaving town for a hard earned Christmas vacation. He’s “retired” from a major software manufacturer, which means he accepted a lay-off when they were doing a little reorganization.

Tired of working for Corporate America he has been trying his hand at self-employment for the past couple of years. The night I dropped my dog off, he was excited about something called AdSense, which I had never heard of.

He is not an excitable man, but he was excited about having earned $6,000 off his website that month. I had built one rinky-dink website in my life, and the idea of doing that and sitting back to watch the money roll in excited me greatly. On the way home, I called my wife and talked her ear off about it.

Having worked extra hours to get everything ready for my absence, and knowing that I would return to a backlog of work, I had been looking forward to spending time with family and friends and getting in a little skiing to boot. It took me just under three-hours after touching down to sneak into my father’s den and begin looking up information on AdSense.

Later my wife was flipping through a recent issue of Discover Magazine and came across a short article on Google’s ad program. In a move that fueled the fire and which I am sure she is now sorry for, she excitedly showed me the article. Serendipity, that’s what I called it.

I spent more time on the computer during our vacation than I did with my family. When my wife and friends went skiing I said I wanted to stay home and hang out with my dad. Of course, I meant my dad’s computer.

On December 26, 2004, I knew how to make my fortune and registered two domain names. We got home on January 3, 2005 in the morning, and that afternoon I was building web pages. Within a week, I had built the first few pages of my first site.

Plagued by viruses, an old slow system, and a lack of knowledge about how to do what I was trying to do I was moving slower than a slug on a salt bed.

On January 6, I bought a new computer, installed virus protection, and loaded on a firewall. The fact that I was hiding the bills from my wife was a sure sign of addiction.

On January 14, my wife would be leaving for a three-week business trip, and I relished the time I would soon have alone to work. A few days before her departure, we had a talk about the lack of time I was spending with her and I promised to do better, but every time she would walk into my office I would hit the monitor’s power button and pretend like I had been reading.

The night before she left I stayed in my office working till midnight, then got up at 5:00 so I could work some more before having to leave for work. As I quickly hurried to shower and dress for work, she wanted to know if “this” was what I meant by spending more time together.

I protested that I had finally been able to get my pages uploaded and they even had ads on them. She rolled her eyes; I kissed her goodbye, apologized, and promised that I would not neglect the house while she was gone.

For the past three weeks, I’ve been functioning on 4-5 hours of sleep per night. I have bags under my eyes, friends say I look haggard and like I am losing weight. The dishes are stacked up, the carpet hasn’t been vacuumed in weeks, I have no idea if our washer and dry work any longer, and I’ve lost track of the piece of paper that says when my wife is arriving at the airport.

Lately, I’ve been wondering if it’s all worth it, if I should seek help, maybe find a 12-step program for AdSense addicts before I lose my wife. Honestly, I was thinking of quiting for good, but then I checked my AdSense earnings. I’ve made $3.45. Hopefully my wife wont mind taking a taxi.

6 Steps to Adsense Domination

When you make your living online, you realize the need for multiple streams of income.

One of the easiest and most lucrative ways to generate a secondary income, which also happens to be passive, is via Google's Adsense program.

I'm sure you've read the claims of a few individuals generating five figure monthly incomes from Adsense. For many of you, I'm sure you are wondering why you aren't making this same income yourself.

Well, wonder no more. If you follow my simple six step system, you will be well on your way to healthy Adsense profits within three months.

Are you ready? It's now time to pay attention.

Step 1 - Preparation.

The key to making money with Adsense is all about numbers. BIG numbers!

Sure, there are a few people making serious money with less than ten sites, but these are the exception.

Your goal will be twenty-four sites in three months. That's just TWO sites per week!

In order to accomplish this, I recommend one of the many available page generation tools available today.

Step 2 - Determine Your Markets.

In order to maximize Adsense income with only twenty-four sites, you must know which markets are paying well.

To break this down even further, you need to know which keywords within those markets are paying the most.

Step 3 - Register you domains.

Once you've identified and chosen your markets, you must register domains appropriate to those markets. For example, if your market is `Cabbage Patch Dolls', a domain such as http://www.cabbage-patch- doll.com/ would be appropriate.

Step 4 - Create your site.

Using your favorite page generation software and keyword list, it's time to develop your site. There are several key points to bear in mind when you develop these specifically for Adsense.

1. Format - Always use the large 336x280 large rectangle.

2. Border - Match the same color as your background.

3. Background color - Border - Match the same color as your background.

4. Link = "0000CC" 5. Color_url = "999999"

6. Color_text = "333333"

7. Position - Far left or center and just above the page fold (Top 25% of site)

Step 5 - Verify and track your site

Visit your site and make sure all links work and that the sites appear to your satisfaction. You should also check out the ads Google is displaying. Are they targeted to your primary high paying keyword? If not, recreate your site using your high paying keyword in a higher density throughout your site.

Make sure you track your Adsense format, position, and traffic with a tracking system specifically designed for Adsense. Once you know your stats, you can adjust for maximum clickthroughs and higher revenues.

Step 6 - Get your site listed in the search engines.

This is simple. no tricks involved. Simply rent links to your site. A PR7 or PR8 link will do the job.

While I've simplified the process here, you are now armed with enough information and resources to make some serious money with Adsense.

Understanding Google AdSense

Google Adsense allows webmasters to dynamically serve content relevant advertisements on web pages. If the visitor clicks one of the Adsense ads served to the website, the website owner is credited for the referral. Google's Adsense program essentially allows approved websites to dynamically serve Google's pay-per-click Adword results.

The website maintenance related to Adsense is very easy and requires very little effort. Webmasters need only to insert a Google generated javascript into the webpage or website template. Google's spider parses the adserving website and serves ads that relate to the website's content. Google uses a combination of keyword matching and context analysis to determine what ads should be served. The javascript calls the ad from Google and will ensure that ads are served each time a visitor goes to the webpage.

Early on Google implemented a filtering system that allowed webmasters to prevent a specific domain's ads from being served on any websites in their account. Ad blocking meant that webmasters could prevent their competitors ads from being dynamically served on their websites.

Google provides a wide variety of ad formats, that webmasters can choose from. Webmasters can select from a handful of preformatted text boxes. The ad boxes can be modified by webmasters to resemble the website's color scheme.

Examples of how different the various text boxes and color schemes appear on similarly themed sites can be viewed at:

http://www.ringtones-central.com (scroll to the bottom)

or

http://www.triphint.com(right side)

Ads can be geotargeted based on the visitors location. Advertisements containing content in English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Japanese, or Spanish are all available.

Channels

Googles recently introduced channels as a way to enhance Adsense reporting. When a channel is selected Google modifies the javascript to include additional tracking. The additional tracking information allows webmasters to track a variety of metrics across their sites. Channels can be used to measure performance on various domains, differences in revenue with various ad sizes, or placement. By assigning each group of pages to a specific channel and comparing results in custom channel reports webmasters can work at increasing their AdSense revenue.

Optimizing

Google determines the content of the ads that are shown, webmasters serious about earning revenue from Google Adsense can use the following guidelines to optomize their website and ensure that targeted relevant ads are served. If Google's spider has not crawled the site and determined the nature of the content pulic service ads may be served.

Public service adds will not accrue any adsense revenue if clicked. As a result Google allows webmasters to designate alternate ads. Alternate ads allow webmasters to utilize the ad space in the event that Google is unable to serve targeted ads to the web page. By specifying an alternate image, HTML page, or ad server can make sure that the advertising space is always being used effectively.

1.) Web page content on pages that ads are served should be static not dynamic.

2.) Ensure that the robot.txt does not prevent the web page from being spidered. Robots.txt file's will need to be removed or the following text will need to bedded to allow Google's content bot to crawl the site: User-agent: Mediapartners-Google

3.) If the website contains frames, select the ‘framed page’ checkbox when generating the ad layout code for that website.

4.) The body of the page and title of the page should contain contextual words that indicate a common theme on the web page.

Revenue Earned

Although Google doesn't disclose the exact revenue share or percentage that webmasters will earn, webmasters will receive a portion of the amount paid for clicks on Google ads on websites.

AdSense Conclusion:

Overall, adwords can provide great supplemental income to webmasters with content sites. Implementing and maintaing Google Adsense program on a content site requires very little effort and can often bring a steady stream of additional revenue for webmasters.

Blogging for Profit Using Adsense

This article is designed to teach you how to profit from
blogging, writing to a website in the form of regular posts,
without spending anything. The keys to this idea lie in two of
Google's programs, Blogger.com and AdSense.

The first obvious step is to find a niche. While it is possible
to have a general interest blog, it may not be as profitable as
targeting a specific subject (click here to read the logic
behind href=http://www.clickfordeals.net/index.php/the-logic-behind-nich
e-content-profits/>targeted advertising).

Once you settled on a subject you like, its time to set up your
blog. Blogger.com is great for beginners. Not only is it free
(and free of ads, unlike most free hosting services), it has
integrated support for AdSense (more on this later). For now,
pick a suitable but catchy name and choose one of the pre-made
designs.

Of course, now you have to start making posts to your blog.
There are two main types of posts. The most common type of
content on blogs seems to be commentary plus a link to the
actual news source or website of interest. Then there are
original content posts which will have others link to you (much
like you do in your commentary posts). Either way, make sure its
interesting to have readers coming back.

Now its time to apply for Google's AdSense program. AdSense is a
pay per click program which matches ads to the content of your
page. Every time a visitor to your site clicks on one of these
links, you receive a small amount of revenue (the minimum
advertisers can bid for a link is $0.05, of which you receive a
percentage. Many phrases can have bids as high as several
dollars per click).

The content of your site determines what ads appear, and
therefore how much you will ultimately make. The placement and
appearance of ads, however, can have just as great an impact on
how much you make.

There are a few tips for maximizing ad revenue. First, the
appearance of the add itself is important. Google clearly labels
all its units as advertising, but allows you to determine the
colors of the links and the background. It is important that
this match the look of your site. The more blatant an ad is, the
more likely it is to turn off visitors. Just as important is the
location of the ad units. They should appear on the top half of
your page, and preferably on the left side. This insures the ad
is viewed by most visitors.

Having covered the basics, its now time for you to experiment to
discover what works best for your new blog. The best part is, it
costs nothing to try.

Google AdSense Tips VOL 2

Author:Ades Tynyshov

Google AdSense has been a very good source of income for many webmasters on internet. Many webmasters that have the know-how of implementing AdSense codes correctly into their websites have made lots of money, because if you make the correct implementation you will have more clicks and if you have more clicks then obviously you will have more money on your next payout. Here I will discuss some of the tips that will increase your Google ad click-throughs, it does not matter what kind of design you have or what colors do you use on your website, these tips are valid for all sites and can be implemented safely.

Before you need to implement your AdSense codes correctly, you should have these requirements in place.

1. Good textual content pages.
Your pages should have enough textual content, when you have more text on your pages Google can place ads that are more related to your content. Otherwise if your pages have very limited text then you will end up seeing Public Service ads which won't make you any money.
2. Specific content pages with different Page Titles.
Do not put the same Page Title throughout your site, rather give different Page Titles for every page according to the content of the page. Keep your Page Titles short and meaningful. Putting too long titles might get your website banned from many search engines, so be careful. Keep the content of the page specific, allocate one page for one topic if possible that way your Google Ads will be more relevant to the content of the page. When you have closely related ads on your page, users are more liekely to click on them.

AdSense Tips

1. Place the ads on the upper part of the page
Don't put the ads on the scrolling side of the page, don't hide your ads on the parts of the page where people cannot see them easily. You want people to click on them right? So put them on visible place, upper part of the page is a good choice, place on top of the page or top right column. Give your ads a proper placement, don't put the content so close to your ads, let your ads stand up from the rest of the content so that it can be seen clearly.

2. Match the ad colors to your site
You should modify the colors of the ads to match your website design, that way it will be like part of your website and will be easy on the eyes. You can even blend it to your content pages, but be careful making it seem part of the your content is an offense, and might get you in trouble with Google. Google says too much blending is illegal, if you are making people think that ads are part of the content, and if you are making them click unintentionally then you might want to consider the way you are implementing the ads on your website, otherwise one day you might receive a termination of account email from Google. So blend it to your website but at the same time make sure that it stands out from your content and not taken as your website content.

There are claims that yellow background with red text ads bring a higher click-through, I cannot confirm this at the moment. Try it out and if it works feel free to implement.

3. Use vertical ads and not horizontal
Using vertical ads will bring you more hits, why? Because all traditional ads have been horizontal on internet, 468x60 banners being the pioneers, and people tend to ignore them which is called banner blindness. However when you put a vertical ad on your page "banner blindness" is not that high unlike horizontal ads.

4. Use text ads and not image ads
Banner blindness issue comes here as well, people usually don't pay much attention on the image banners. In this case it is proven that text ads perform better, their click-through is up to 5% while image ads click-through is less than 2%. So use text ads and get better click-throughs.

5. Use channels to monitor your ads performance
Use channels to keep track how different parts of your website is performing. For example you can specify a channel called 'horizontal ad' and run that ad for 2-3 days, and again you can create a channel called 'vertical ad' and implement vertical ads with this channel on your website for another 2-3 days. Then you can compare which ad type has performed better on your site. That way you will know which ad type, size and where exactly to implement different ads.

6. Don't Cheat and Ask Google if you have a question
Lastly don't cheat! Cheating will get you nothing, sooner or later your account will be terminated and all your money will be gone, so play fair. It is illegal to place texts like "Please support us and click on the ads".

Prohibited Uses: You shall not ... encourage any third party to ... generate fraudulent ... clicks on any Ad(s)

Just remember that Google is watching your website and the way you implement the ads on your website.

Ask Google if you have any question or if you are not sure if your strategy breaches their Program Policy. Google's support team is very friendly and fast, just send them email and you should receive answer soon. That way you will be safe from any trouble.

These simple steps will make your Google Ads perform better, if you have any other ways that you have implemented on your site and have seen your click-through rate increase then let me know. And I will be happy to add it here.

The One Simple Trick that can double your Adsense revenue

I've been working with Google's Adsense program for a while now.
If you're not already in the program, why not take a look at it
now at https://www.google.com/adsense. I really like Adsense. It
makes me money and it's easy to work with. Just some simple copy
& paste into your webpage and you're done. Right?

Wrong! You can do it that way if you want. Who knows? Maybe
you'll get lucky and get a lot of clicks. But if you're really
serious about making a lot of money with the program, you're
going to have to tweak it a little.

I've invested quite a bit of time experimenting with the
program. When I first signed up, I got some clicks and made a
tiny bit of money. That wasn't good enough. I knew there must be
a way to get more of my visitors to click on the ads.

Google has a strict policy about not pointing to the ads in any
way or asking people to click on them, so there were two things
I couldn't do. What else was there?

Then I remembered reading an article once that discussed the
psychological impact of colors on the human mind. I started
researching everything I could find on the subject.

After a lot of reading, many tests and periods of watching my
clicks go up and down, I found the one color combination that
seemed to work the best.

Testing previously done at supermarkets had revealed that the
same product could pull more sales from just changing the colors
of the label. What were these colors? Red and yellow! The
combination of these two colors has an immediate impact on the
person who sees them. They make your eyes stop and focus. They
pull your eyes right to that part of the page. They grab your
attention! I'm not sure exactly why the combination of red and
yellow does this, but it does. On one of my sites, I changed my
Adsense ads to a bright red border and a yellow background with
black text and URL.

My click through rate more than doubled with just that one
simple change. That's what worked on my site. Your site's color
scheme may work better with a slightly different color
combination. Try lots of different color variations. Make a
change in the morning and let it ride for the whole day. The
next morning, try a different set of colors. Change the border,
background, text. Change everything you can. Most importantly,
keep detailed records of the color scheme you used, click ratio
and revenue generated.

After you've done all the experimenting you want to, go back to
the most profitable one and let it run for a week or so and see
how it does. I'm always trying different colors even after my
run of good clicks with red and yellow. There are a lot of color
combinations to choose from. You never know when you'll find
just the right one.

Google AdSense Tips VOL1

Tip #1: Don't put ads on empty pages.

When I reworked my site, I built a skeleton set of pages that had no content, just titles and some meta tags. I displayed ads on those pages, however. Although all you see are public service ads at first, the very act of displaying ads on a page causes the AdSense web crawler to quickly fetch that page for analysis. A page with good content will thus begin showing relevant paying ads fairly quickly.

If you don't have any content, then, Google will have to guess as what your page is about. It may guess wrong, and so the ads that it displays may not be relevant. You'll have to wait until Google re-crawls the site for the ads to correct themselves. Here is what Google had to say when I asked them about how often the AdSense crawler updates a site:

Thank you for taking the time to update your site. New ads will start appearing
on your site the next time our crawler re-indexes your site. Unfortunately at
this time, we are unable to control how often our crawlers index the content on
your site.

Crawling is done automatically by our bots. When new pages
are added to your website or introduced to the AdSense program, our crawlers
will usually get to them within 30 minutes. If you make changes to a page,
however, it may take up to 2 or 3 weeks before the changes are reflected in our
index. Until we are able to crawl your web pages, you may notice public service
ads, for which you will not receive any earnings.

It's better to flesh out the page before you start displaying ads on it.

Tip #2: Don't be afraid to ask questions

If you're wondering about something, don't be afraid to ask Google. So far, they've always responded to my questions within a working day. There are two email addresses to use, depending on the type of question:

Their responses are always very polite, and they appreciate getting problem reports and suggestions.

Tip #3: Avoid non-English characters on English pages

This one is a bug, to be honest. My surname is French, and I prefer to write it out correctly with the accent grave on the first "e". Every page on my site would then include at least two accented letters, because my name shows up twice in the footer. On some pages my name shows up two or three more times.

Normally, this wouldn't be an issue. But on some pages the presence of the accented characters is enough to cause AdSense to display non-relevant ads in French. This happens whether the browser indicates a preference for French or not. When I reported this to Google, this is the answer they gave me:

Hello,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.

We
are currently working as quickly as we can to address this problem. As soon as
we have more information for you, we will email you again.

We appreciate
your patience.

Sincerely,

The Google Team

Until this is resolved, I've decided to strip out all accents except on the pages that are actually in French.

Tip #4: Check your keyword density

Although Google doesn't release exact details as to how they determine the ads to serve on a given page, they do tell us that it's the text content of the page that matters, not the meta tags. Before serving ads on a page, then, you might want to check its keyword density. A good, free tool for doing this is found here:

http://www.ranks.nl/tools/spider.html

This lets you fine-tune the page before exposing it to the AdSense crawler.

Info from http://www.ericgiguere.com/index.html

What is AdSense?

AdSense is Google's program for placing its AdWords ads on non-Google websites such as this one.
AdSense lets website owners like you and me make money easily and fast without even selling anything. In fact you can often start earning in under 24 hours and when you get paid, it is Google that sends you a check!

You don't have to run a large site or have much traffic to make money and AdSense works for small enthusiast or hobby sites as well as larger operations.

AdSense is easy - but here's how to make real money
Some websites make a lot of money from AdSense (thousands of dollars a month!) whilst others make very little and there are many complex reasons why earnings differ.

I've been using AdSense since it was launched and am hugely enthusiastic about it. I've written a 5-day course about AdSense that explains

where the money comes from
what you have to do to start out fast
how much money you can make
what clicks are worth
how to put a rocket-engine behind your earnings
whether you can cheat
It's free and there's no obligation whatsoever.

To get the first installment in your in-tray in a few minutes just complete the form below.

I also discuss some unique and risky experiments I've done in my AdSense lab as I unpicked the AdSense system. (I was lucky not to get banned for doing some of these! Don't try them yourself. You can also read what Google had to say to me about them.)

Like a link to a presentation by Google about AdSense that few people know about? Written for advertisers, it explains Google's view on why AdSense is so useful for businesses. You can get it here too.
